JCO Announces New Short Film 'Flatline'

14 March 2025

As Jefferies Media & Co [JCO Media] approaches its tenth anniversary, we have announced our biggest film yet. Following the success of FEAR in 2020 before the pandemic, our new short film Flatline will tackle the same subjects of mental health and using alcohol as a method of suicide.

"Matty is dealing with grief and his coping mechanisms fall flat; isolating himself from his family, friends and the world. As the grieving process becomes unmanageable, Matty attempts to use alcohol as a means of suicide."

Whilst the full details, including casting, are being kept under wraps for now, we can exclusively reveal that this will be our first short film shot solely on iPhone, a new take on how we shoot our films; something we have never done before.

We can also reveal that Flatline will be based on a true story. Some parts of the film have been created for dramatisation purposes, however; the main premise of the film will be a true story. The film will also run alongside our campaign to Make It A Legal Requirement to Include Mental Health Helplines on All Alcohol Products, which a petition has been created for. You can sign this here.

The film has been created by Lewis Jefferies and Samuel MacDonagh and written by Lewis Jefferies. With filming due to begin in the spring, the film is expected to release early in the summer months. We will be working closely with The Samaritans and Mind on this project. We will bring you all the latest news as soon as it's ready.
